"I'll CALL YOU BACK "
This piece was created during a major transition in my life, when I moved from Houston to Boston. The culture shock was overwhelming, and being away from my family made me deeply homesick. Although I had my partner by my side, I realized that I also had to learn how to create happiness for myself in this new place.
I decided to make lemonade out of lemons. 🍋
The woman at the center of the piece represents that feeling—she’s surrounded by blue, reflecting the sadness and uncertainty I felt during that time, but she’s also surrounded by warmth, light, plants, and little pieces of joy. The space itself is a reflection of my Boston home, combining plants and objects from my own surroundings with the central figure, which was created from reference images.
For me, this piece is a reminder that even in seasons of sadness and transition, there can still be beauty, joy, and light—you just have to learn how to find it.
